What is a “deaf interpreter”?

A Deaf Interpreter is a provider of ASL interpreting services who is deaf. They are experts in the art and science of ASL-English interpreting and provide deeper and more culturally accurate interpretations than what an experienced hearing interpreter can usually do alone. We work with them in high stakes situations and when the ASL used requires native fluency.
